Latvija, mon amour

Tenho saudades da Letónia e do seu povo extraordinário. A malta anda por lá a penar, graças à sanha duns bandalhos com fortes ressabiamentos anti-comunistas que se apoderou dum sistema político com insuficiências declaradas. Curiosamente, e tão certo como o nosso Magnífico Engenheiro conseguir a reeleição daqui por um ano, lá continuam a votar nos mesmos gajos que os fodem. A título de exemplo, acabaram de despedir dois funcionários da agência anti-corrupção por suspeitas de roubo de dinheiro desviado e recuperado. Ganda volta.

Pois o povo é quem mais ordena, e saiu à rua para assinar uma petição com vista a alterar a Constituição e assegurar controlo externo a um Parlamento miserável. Não da melhor maneira, claro. Fica aqui um cheirinho dum artigo bem redigido no Baltic Times:

Latvians are angry – and for good reason. They have, after all, the worst leadership in the European Union. The irony is that they are the ones who elected the current Parliament and coalitional government, and now they want to bequeath themselves the constitutional right to dissolve the legislature (and thus the government as well). None of this stacks up logically. Yet, if the experts’ predictions bear out, and economic hardships exacerbate throughout the summer, there’s a good chance that disgruntled Latvians will, out of their discontent, successfully amend the Satversme.
