Citizen patrols hit Italy streets
The first, legal, citizens' patrols have appeared on the streets of Italy.
Supporters say the patrols will enable ordinary people to help police carry out their role of protecting neighbourhoods.
But opponents have argued the groups are no more than vigilantes, many of which are being set up in areas with high immigrant populations.
(...) The new group's uniforms are so provocative, that at least one authority - in Milan - has placed them under investigation.
But the inquiry into whether their uniforms contravene Italy's laws banning Nazi and fascist insignia, has not stopped them beginning their patrols.
(...) The foot soldier in heels said: "The streets in Italy are not safe, especially in big cities like Rome where people going home are getting attacked and raped".
Her views on black and Jewish people would be actionable, if printed here.

Wedding bouquet tradition causes plane crash in Italy
MOSCOW, July 13 (RIA Novosti) - The tradition of the bride throwing the wedding bouquet led to a plane crash in Livorno on Italy's western coast, Corriere della Sera said.
The centuries old tradition of the bride throwing the wedding bouquet to a group of single women turned into a tragedy after the happy couple hired a light plane in an effort to add some novelty to the custom.
The light aircraft was supposed to fly over a line of single women and a passenger on the aircraft, Isidoro Pensieri, was supposed to throw the bouquet out. However it all went horribly wrong when the bouquet was sucked into the plane's engine, which caught fire and exploded.
The aircraft went into a nosedive and hit a nearby hostel where some 50 people were accommodated. Fortunately no one was hurt.

Cash to name babies for Mussolini
A far-right Italian party is offering 1,500 euros ($1,900) to parents who name their children after the fascist dictator Mussolini or his wife.
The small Movimento Sociale-Fiamma Tricolore (MS-FT) party denies its gesture is racist and says the names Benito and Rachele are merely "nice".
